Space Pilot Crashes?

Is anyone else seeing a problem while running their space pilot in
IV2010? I have been getting 4-8 or more crashes in Inventor daily and I
think it may be my space pilot. Most of the crashes seem to happen when I
am rotating around in a model or right when I touch the puck to start
viewing a part. I have checked video drivers and made sure I am running the
latest autodesk certified one. I have also updated to the newest version of
the space pilot driver release version 3.8.1. I read somewhere that it may
have to do with the ribbon bar and that the newest space pilot drivers were
supposed to fix the problem. I changed to the classic interface late
yesterday and have not had a crash since. I should have had several by now.
Is this the only work around? I hate the ribbon bar but I was using it
since the classic may go away in the near future. Any help would be
appreciated, thanks.

On my old XP system I had jerky/sticky movement with the SpacePilot and
IV2010 with the Ribbon UI. I even tried a SpaceExplorer and SpaceTraveler on
the system with the same results, yet on other XP systems with IV2010 and
UI it was a problem.

Make sure that when you updated your drivers, you did a complete un-install
and system reboot before installing the new ones.

No problems on my new system with my old SpacePilot.

I am running with Ribbon on a 32-bit machine. Not really experiencing any crashes - but one thing I do is click Calibrate every day on the 3D Connexion Control Panel.

The problem I have experinced is with static electricty. Sometimes when I scoot around a bit with my chair it picks up a charge and then when I touch the space navigator it discharges on the metal base. The space navigator continues to work normally but the discharge kills my mouse operation.

Yesterday morningI had tried to calibrate but I continued to get crashes
after that. It's now been nearly 8 hours with no crash while using the
classic Inventor interface. Yeserday was exceptionally bad with probably
close to a dozen while using the ribbon bar.

You are not alone.

While I have not experienced any issues myself, one of my co-workers had the same exact issue as you.He updated his drivers as well, but to no avail.

He has since switched back to the classic UI, and has not had a crash in week.

Do you think running a newer driver might cause a problem. I got a crash
once and Autodesk notified me that to fix the problem I needed to update my
driver, so I did. Still it crashes. I did not uninstall the the old and
then install the new though. I want to do this but I can't find a way to
export the settings. I really don't want to lose all my settings, it will
take too long to redo them. Does anyone know a way to save them out?
