I the attached similar of what you are looking for? As far as best
methods for a simple model it depends on wether you want to control the
angle of the discharge or the length. You could extrude the outlet and put
a taper angle on it but the it may not be as easy to control the opening
size. To get the volume of what I have drawn simply go into the physical
properties and get the current volume of the part. Then suppress the shell
and get the new volume of the part and subtract the 2 to get the internal
capacity of the hopper.
Like I said this is an extremely simple version and if you need any
details of the actul construction you may need to use some other methods.
