Hello

I created some part at Inventor. Now i want to unfold them. I can't do this with UNFOLD options probably because there are no straight edges.

Maybe solution for this is to create panel in different way (RCP VIEW needs to be imprinted on SURFACE with 1.5" thickness).

Any ideas?
Many thanks

Kruuger:

For some reason I can't get a flat pattern out of
your model either.  Whatever is preventing the flat pattern is preventing
the unfold.  I don't work much with surfaces so I have no idea why
not.

However I think I achieved your intent
by:

1/ Moving the End of Folded marker just below the
Surface

2/ Selected the Model tab (I'm using
2010)

3/ Chose the Split command

4/ For the split tool I chose the outline from
sketch Profil

5/ For the Faces I chose the curved
Surface

6/ I then highlighted your target surface and
thickened it.

Flat pattern and unfold now work.

Awesome Richard, your solution works.

I also don't play to much with surface. Everything looks logical but doesn't work.
Maybe some knows what is wrong with my method??

Anyway, your solution is ok for me.
Thanks
K.

I would have expected your approach to work and
look forward to learning why it didn't from someone more familiar
with these aspects of Inventor.

In the meantime I'm pleased that my suggestions
permit you to carry on.

Richard

Yannick,

I try to create another panel. I follow your steps.
I create very simple panel but INV 2010 doesn't want to unfold this profile.

Did you noticed some problem with unfolding profile at INV 2010
Please see attached file.

I create more complex panel http://home.autocom.pl/kruuger/FTP/P01.ipt and this one works fine.
This is crazy.

Thanks
Kruuger

Your part thickness doesn't match your sheet metal thickness.

Also, you are doing too much work - this could be done with Contoured Flange sheet metal tool.

You right with this thickness. Thanks

You also mentioned about contour flange. Do you mean something like this?? See link below.

Thanks once again
