How do I get image files to show up in a rendered drawing?

I have several image files attached to my drawing. When I go to render the drawing all image files just disappear, however when i work withen the drawing in wireframe mode the images appear just fine. what is going on here? Why wont the rendered detail of the drawing show the images?

floating images simply hide when rendering. Apply then as materials to
surfaces if you want them to show up.
