Reference parts list (REF) & As required (AR) parts list information

I am attempting to handle the creation of parts lists in our drawings within AutoCAD Mechanical 2008. There are times when we need to list a particular baloon call out that was already called out in another view, and we use the reference (REF) located in the quantity column. Also, there are times when we call out material that might be glue or some other type of chemical that we use as required (AR) in the quantity column within the BOM on the drawing. How can I set this up in the parts list settings under AMSTANDARDS. Or am I asking to much?

Hi,

You may create Custom BOM properties for Reference and As Required columns in the BOM Settings dialog. options>>AM:Standards tab>>Double click BOM>>Add properties as shown in the attached image.

I'm affraid I misguided you. I want the quantity to show AR (as required) in the QTY column, same as when you use balloons for multi views, I want the ballon (split) to show REF (reference) in the bottom part of the balloon. Its a quantity count and is used in the industry all the time.

QTY column is hard coded and we cannot enter text info. You may create custom BOM properties as per below steps:

1. command AMBOM>>Settings>>Create 2 custom properties as shown in image-1 and re arrange the properties as required on the BOM tab

2. Click on Balloon Tab>>Settings>>Choose "Circular to Text" option>>OK

3. In the expression, select first expression as =<Item> and second expression as =<REF> click Apply>>OK>>OK

4. command AMBOM>>Settings>>Balloon tab>>Settings>>Choose "Circular" option >>OK>>OK

5.Create Balloons on the views

6. For the balloon (split) to show REF (reference) in the bottom part of the balloon>>Double click that balloon and choose "Circular to Text" from "Balloon Type" Drop down.

7. For adding AR in the Qty (This is the custom prop created in step-1 ) column>>Add AR on the required parts. (Image-2)
