Sometimes when we get a drawing from a consultant and open it in AutoCAD 2006 and try printing it all of our normal ctb's are missing in the dropdown plot style table menu. Open one of our drawings, try to print and all the ctb files are back again.

Those drawings are done using STB. To convert, after opening those dwgs in AutoCAD, use the command: ConvertPStyles

Rainman Hi,
this is due to the consultant drawing is set as Named Plot Style table (STB) whereas you are accustumed to work with Color Dependent Plot Style Table (CTB)
you can convert a STB to CTB with CONVERTPSTYLES command but i would not recomand to do this.
instead investigate a little on Plot Style tables you will soon find out that they are works alike
