I am trying to bring a published 3d dwf (tried both dwf & dwfx) into design review 2010. The published 3d dwf is coming from revit mep 2009. If I publish a view that only contains arch and structural categories I can open the 3d dwf fine. As I turn on the mechanical categories in the view to publish it so I can see all three trades I get this error "The file you are trying to view contains errors". Obviously it is something in the mech categories causing the error. If anyone has seen this same error and has figured out the category that causes this issue please let me know. I would not like to turn on one category at a time to see which causes the error.
Besides spending hours to get ADR 2010 installed... then not being able to open 3d dwf files... and reading all the problems with printing it is a big question of why Autodesk would even release ADR. If Autodesk could not aquire software like Navisworks and Revit they would be dead in the water with junk like ADR.
Revit 2010 has fixed a similar error, could you please update Revit to the latest version and try again? If the error still exist, please send us your sample file (the Revit file) so that we can investigate what happened?
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
First off I would like to appologize for the previous frustrated post.
As much as I would like to upgrade I don't think it is going to happen. The whole design team is in 2009 and is reluctant to upgrade. As we moved a previous project from 2008 to 2009 it caused just as many problems as it solved. Even if 2010 did fix it, I don't feel that is a proper fix for the problem. The problem should be resolved within revit mep 2009.
The file is an actual project. It is 315 mb. If I try to recreate the issue with a new template file ADR works fine. In real life with an actual project it is a no go. It is just not fair that the users have to do a lot of Autodesk's dirty work to help fix problems with their software. Unfortunately I don't think I would get released to upload the project file. I understand that it is near impossible to trouble shoot without the rvt file.
Where to go from here is to probably wait for our next project that we will start in 2010 and cross our fingers and hope that ADR works. For now I will continue to use navisworks. If Autodesk would just add sectioning to the navisworks viewer than ADR would be obselete real soon. But that won't happen cause it's all about the $$$.
