IGES Export Errors

Created a surface loft in Mechanical 2009 from cross sections. Fairly simple surface. Looked fine in Mechanical. Tried to export to IGES. IGES file contained only two cross sections at each end and one rail. No surface. Repeated in AutoCAD 2009. Same result. Log file contained a note about "Unsupported AutoCAD Entity" and "Unknown Entity". I presume this note refers to the lofted surface.

Anyone know why AutoCAD would not recognize a surface it created?

Mechanical Desktop creates NURBS surfaces. AutoCAD supports AutoCAD
surfaces.
