They look very sharp here from your screenshot image. What kind of
monitor are you using?

I am using a 19" monitor at a native resolution of 1280 by 1024....

I did some research and realize now that inventor 2010 is using clear type. Inventor does not respect the display settings command to not use it.. as set in the display settings in xp. Nor does it repond to the xp power toy cleartype tweak.

However, if you think the "Sketch" and "Create" on the ribbon are as crisp and clear as the "Bracket" on the model tree... then I feel I am getting a "there is no problem" response instead of a "here is how to turn off clear type in our program response".

Is it possible to turn off the use of clear type in inventor 2010?

It's NOT ClearType.  It's WPF.  This
has already been discussed ad naseum.

thank you for the constructive reply.

When will it be fixed?

Search on blurry gives 3 hits.... mostly people saying it is not blurry...

Search on WPF is useless....

It there a tread where it is acknowledged as a problem and has a fix?

What is WPF and can it be controled.

Here's a little more to help you understand that blurry answer. From what I quickly read so far, there is nothing you can do about. It's an Inventor .Net code issue. (I'm no programmer- so I may be way off on this.)

sounds like a recompile is the only answer... now I know why they went to the ribbon... not for the user... but to make the job of programming easier.....

Programmers, stop saying it is not blurry...

thanks for the replies....

(Disclaimer: I don't work on the ribbon/graphics area of Inventor, so don't speak with certainty about the details of its implementation.)

My research supports the above. In the current releases of the WPF software, with which the ribbon is implemented, there is no ability to control the anti-aliasing behavior. Many others have complained about its lack of clarity, particularly on CRT monitors.

Microsoft indicates that they are replacing the text rendering stack in WPF 4.0, which they say will fix this issue. (See https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=380919).

It's not clear yet when Inventor will switch to using WPF 4.0; it's unlikely to be used for near-term Inventor releases.

I know that doesn't help you much, but I hope it helps clarify (sorry) the situation.

Sounds like a tube monitor, not an LCD. Is that correct?

Just to be clear (no pun intended), none of the repsonses in this thread so far is from an Autodesk programmer, so nobody from Autodesk is trying to tell you that you're not seeing what you're seeing. However, some of us have older eyes, so the fact that we can read it at all makes life seem good!

Look for thread posted 5/28/2009 by christophe.vivant@itiibourgogne.com
titled "looks blury ! ??? so what" in this forum and another thread
in the customization group by the same poster 5/29/09 titled
".NET 3.0 subsystem problem : PresentationFontCache.exe". Seems I
remember there being some kind of response by an AD programmer?

My co-worker came up with my personal solution....

"Why try to learn the ribbon... just use the classic interface for the next 2 years and they will have it fixed by 2012.... sounds like a great plan....

why fight this battle now...."

sometimes real gems fall from his lips...

Until MS fixes this problem, the ribbon will be blurry.

Thanks for helping me hunt down what was really going on.....
