Ribbon Interface problem in ADR 2010

We have a problem with the new Ribbon Interface feature in ADR 2010 (the dark grey menu area on top). The problem appears when we try to open a DWF-file over the internet in a new window in IE7 (embedded files working fine). The first time we open a DWF-file, the Ribbon is there and fully functional, but if we want to open another DWF-file, the Ribbon is gone and cannot be found in any right-click menus. The only way to get the Ribbon back is to close all IE-windows and open them up again, but then the problem loop again and again. We are using Windows XP Pro (SP3). Click the two DWF-examples below to see if you got the same problem as us, right-click and choose " Open in new window" or close down the first DWF before you open the next one. http://dwfcommunity.autodesk.com/uploads/gallery/51733efc97804386f2ae7b22aa1a998a.dwfhttp://dwfcommunity.autodesk.com/uploads/gallery/72ffa4da02978f38ec15a651d423656e.dwfAny ideas?

Thank you for your feedback. I have heard of similar issues during the beta cycle and would have to look whether there was a resolution. We will look into this for you and reply as soon as we have an update. We have a problem with the new Ribbon Interface feature in ADR 2010 (the dark grey menu area on top). From what I can gather this is due to a limitation in I.E.7 and the workaround, killing ribbons in secondary windows, was imposed to avoid a crash.
Our intranet launches new windows for DWFs but the same limitation applies in that after the first "new window" there is no ribbon. There are a couple of work arounds; - Right click is still functional and you can launch the full ADR application from that. - Try IE8, from my experience it doesn't have the same limitation.

I have installed IE8, but the same issue occurs anyway.

I currently have the same issue. I just recommended a client to upgrade all of their Design Review Software to 2010 to resolve some embedded links issues, and now when the 2nd DWF opens up, the ribbon bar is no longer there, which also gets rid of the Print icon. The print icon is tool they used the most to have paper copies of maps out in the field for mark-ups, construction notes, etc. Is there anyway to get this feature back? It seemed to work fine in 2009.

Thank you for your question and I appreciate your frustration. This is an known issue using Design Review 2010 with IE7. When Design Review is embedded in multiple tabs in one instance of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, the ribbon UI will only be displayed in the first embedded instance. You can use either of the below solutions to help work around this issue: 1. In the tabs that do not display the ribbon, access controls by right-clicking the canvas or drawing. 2. Open a new IE7 window instead of a new tab. The ribbon will shown in each individual IE7 window. 3. As many other users have suggested, you can use IE8 where this behavior is not found. Please let me know if I can be of any further help. Bill I currently have the same issue. I do have IE8 installed, and so does mostly of my co-workers too, but we still have this annoying ribbon issue.
What to do, except the work arounds? Any patch from Autodesk in the near future, maybe?
Thanks!

Thank you for your feedback.
Design Review 2010 supports opening fewer then 4 tabs in the same IE8 window.
Also, as previously suggested, you can also open a new IE window, vs. tab, to avoid this issue.
I am sorry to say that I know of no plans to publish a patch for this in the near future.
Please let me know if I can be of any further help.
Bill

I found a good solution for this and it works in IE7.
Create a javascript function which opens a new window as a modal Dialog window. The page to open in the modal dialog window will be the page with the embedded reference to the Design Review control.
I have tested it fairly well and each modal window opening did have the ribbon bar available.
I too had the original problem that the ribbon bar was missing upon opening the page a second time using the javascript window.open method. So instead I tried the showModalDialog method calling the same page which worked.
See code snippits below sScreen is the variable containing the path to the html page with the embedded control reference.
Original window.open event which failed: win1 = window.open(sScreen,"","toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,location=no,width=800,height=600,top=0,left=0");
New showModalDialog event has success: win1 = showModalDialog(sScreen,"","dialogWidth: 1024px; dialogHeight: 768px; edge: Raised; center: Yes; help: No; resizable: Yes; status: No;scrollbars: No;maximize:Yes;minimize:Yes;"); Hope this helps everyone...

Hi Allanvig,
I'm having the same problem.
Please could you post more information about how to do it? I don't understand what do you mean.
Thanks
