How can I remove the relationship of a sketch line of a floor and a wall? The floor was placed by drawing lines (not picking walls) and one side of the sketch lies on the interior face of one wall. No locks have been set between the sketch line and the wall edge. If that wall moves, the floor moves - it does not just move that sketch line of the floor - but shifts the entire floor location. The floor is a mezzanine so one side does not have a wall relationship and floats free so its location it constantly getting altered. This edge profile for the mezzanine is quite intricate so placing a dimension constraint on the sketch is not a real good option. Is there a way to break the relationship between the floor and the wall?

If the sketch line was constrained, the floor would change shape. If the entire floor is moving, somehow in plan or section someone placed a dimension, between the two, (even though it might say 0", and then locked it. In either a cetion, ot plan, try placing a dimension between the two. You may have to use the tab key numerous times to ensure what you are selecting to dimension to. Chances are you'll see a lock on that dimension when you get it placed. Simply unlocking it will break the connection.

There is no dimension between the two. I just created a new file and made walls and a floor in it and had the same issue. Try this out and see if you get the same results: Create a wall. Then create a floor next to it (but not touching it) using lines. Finish the sketch for the floor. Move the wall and of course there is no change to the floor. Now edit the sketch of the floor and drag the sketch line parallel to the wall to the wall edge so it snaps to it. Do not lock the relationship. Finish the sketch. Now move the wall and the floor moves with it. That is the relationship I want to break. This only occurs at the outside edge of a wall. If the floor sketch is snapped to one of the internal layers of the wall structure, no relationship is created. I guess I am looking for something like a "disallow join" for this condition.

This phenomena is because when you attach a sketch line for a floor (or ceiling and roof) to a wall it constrains itself to the strong references in the wall (i.e. exterior and interior sides as well as centerline). Any other position is not a constraint. The only way not to have the floor constrain itself is make sure that Extend into wall core is unchecked and move the floors sketch line into the wall slightly (about a 1/16"). What is the situation you are trying to accomplish and for what purpose?
