I need some advice- below are the specs of a used Precision 690. Anyone have any red flags going up about the processor speed? The min sys requirements for C3d 2009 is 3.0 GHz, so I'm kind of wondering if it's a no deal.

Your thoughts?

I would look for a much larger cache.

That system is considerably faster than the 3GHz Pentium that is listed in the minimum specs. It is not enough to simply compare clock speeds; the newer chips perform much better at slower speeds than the older chips.

That system should work well. But what's the price? If you're getting it for, say, under $1000 US, it's a good deal. If it's more than $1500, though, you'd probably be better off getting a new Core i7 with GeForce PCIe 2.0 video card.

I can get it for $700 right now, or can get it for $600 with a 160 HDD.

Fresh install of Windows XP Pro, 32 bit, Office 2007 Ultimate. The guy is just having a hard time finding a buyer for a machine that big and heavy.

It's definitely a good deal for $700. A Core i7 would work better and have a longer projected lifespan, but would probably cost more than twice as much.
