Greetings,

I have two pipe label issues in profile view:

1. When labeling pipe slope in percent, my label returns a positive percent when flowing down hill. My pipes were created start to end with the start invert elevation being a greater number than the end invert elevation. My label is set to use pipe slope in percent with two decimal places and positive or negative reported as sign negative '-'. I have found if I edit the end invert elevation so it is greater than the start, the slope is labelled as negative even though it is flowing up hill. This seems backwards to me. I would prefer to see the negative sign when flowing down hill.

2. I would like to label the invert elevation at the end of a pipe without a structure. I have read a post or two that say to use a flow direction arrow to anchor to then turn it's visability off. I have tried this and while it does work, it doesn't come out the way I would prefer. I can't seem to rotate the label vertical, it appears to reference the objects rotation. The flow direction arrow, even though placed at the bottom outer diameter, is only as long as perpendicular to the centerline, therefore, my label doesn't appear to be placed at the end of the pipe but appears perpendicular to the centerline instead. I would also like to label the pipe outlet direction or flow direction as (NW) with the invert elevation label similar to the structure labels on the attached image. Unfortunately, pipe labels don't include the same selection or variety of labels as structure labels. I have found is three label options but they only offer bearings instead of direction. Is this possible?

I attached an image of these labels as I have them set up currently. I will reply to this post and attach another image with these labels set up the way I would prefer them to read after editing them manually. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Thank you.

Attached is the second image with the labels reading the way I would prefer.

Thank you.

1. Use an expression to change the slope to the sign you want.

2. Change the label orientation to view instead of object and drop the arrow and you should be able to get the results you want. Also take a look at these posts:

There may be other posts I've done also that would be applicable.

Whether a pipe slope is labeled positive or negative does not depend on the direction of flow, but rather on the relative station. In other words, if station 0+00 is at, say, elevation 3000.00, and station 1+00 is at elevation 3010.00, the slope will label (correctly, I might add) +10.00%. All sanitary sewer pipes should be labeled with positive slopes, as should all storm sewer pipes. The only negative slopes should be water lines, as they are under pressure and can, therefore, "flow" uphill.
