Beg to differ,
Similar names, different programs, different outcomes.
My Civil Design is a reliable Pipe, Hydrology, Hydraulic and grading
solution, although incredibly outdated. Please let me know which of these
features is available as a "reliable" solution in Civil 3d. Super sketchy
pipes (forced to competitor .pack product) No Hydrology (forced to
competitor .pack product) No Hydraulics (forced to competitor .pack product
or custom solutions)
Now we come to Grading, apparently by posts in this NG still not recommended
until the SP (it does have potential if it doesn't crash every 5 minutes.
I am truly not a naysayer, just a user.)
I hate to gripe, but I am having a very, very hard time justifying this
subscription expense to my boss. Autocad 2007 does nothing for my firm (7
seats) (Other than nightmare of version change to clients!!) and Civil 3d
2007 (4 seats) I can't install until the SP.
You go sit in that room when your boss asks you "So what am I getting for my
$+-10,000 subscription?" (And I only have 10 seats total!!)
"Well boss, basically we need to buy all new computers to run the new
autocad. About $20,000."
"Okay," he says "Its that good?"
"Well no. It doesn't do anything for us. This release is mainly for
someone else." (I haven't figured who this is yet. Someone clue me in.
Mechies, I thought they had inventor? Archies, thought they had Revit?
Mindless drones who could have bought LT? I am not on the "Most anticipated
since 14!!!!!!" bandwagon. I see nothing but wasted time and money.)
"Well at least Civil 3d will make it worthwhile for us, right?"
"Well...."
Get my point? Civil "Companion" does what's advertised.
"IF>, and only IF you need the Civil Design
add-on for Land Desktop.
I can't do my job without it!!!
Thanks,
